A Glen Cove woman was arrested earlier this month after officials said they found cats and dogs hoarded inside her home, where her two daughters were also allegedly living in poor conditions.

The Nassau District Attorney’s Office says over 160 cats and two dogs were rescued from the condemned home on St. Andrews Lane. One cat was initially found dead inside the residence, and another died on its way to the veterinarian.

The Glen Cove Police Department issued a search warrant on June 8 and took 54-year-old Olena Horbatko into custody.

She faces two counts of reckless endangerment and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, stemming from the conditions in which her 18-year-old and 12-year-old daughters were living.

She also faces multiple animal cruelty charges.
