An opossum in peril has been saved.

The animal was stuck on the barrier between lanes of busy traffic on the Northern State Parkway.

Frankie Floridia, from Strong Island Animal Rescue, says this happened on Tuesday morning near exit 42 south in Dix Hills. The animal was released in a safe area - along with her pouch full of babies.
