The Stony Brook WTC Wellness Program celebrated the opening of a new one-stop clinic for Sept. 11 first responders on Tuesday.
The new clinic is located at Stony Brook Advanced Specialty Care at 500 Commack Road.
John Feal, of the Feal Good Foundation, says the average age of a 9/11 first responder was 39 years old. Now, many of them are 55 and 56 with chronic illnesses.
"Last year, there were 73,000 people enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Program. There are now over 80,000 people…That's a lot," said Feal.
Any first responders who would like more information about the clinic can call their health care hotline at 1-888-982-4748.
