One of Long Island's largest pool companies is not making the grade this summer when it comes to customer service.
Marie Sanccente says Island Recreational promised her a hassle-free installation in March, with free parts delivery and completion by Memorial Day. According to Sanccente, the process was anything but hassle-free. She says the pool was just recently complete after dozens of phone calls, hours spent on hold and several trips to pick up major parts for the pool. Charlie Gardner, of Suffolk Consumer Affairs, says Island Recreational received 10 complaints in a five-week period. He says an emergency meeting has been set up with the company, which faces fines and possibly a license suspension.
Island Recreational released a statement blaming overwhelmed subcontractors. The company adds it will only use its own installers in the future and will limit sales to keep up with demand.
