A Nassau County police officer was injured Monday during an arrest in New Hyde Park, officials say.

Detectives say Raul Veingolea, of Queens, was sleeping in his car in a private parking lot. He did not listen officers when they arrived to ask him to move.

Police say Veingolea tried to drive away and became violent when officers approached him.

The officer and Veingolea were taken to the hospital with injuries.
