A mosquito sample from Suffolk County has tested positive for West Nile virus. 
Health officials say the mosquito sample was collected on July 9 from Bay Shore.
County residents are being urged to reduce exposure to avoid being bitten.

No human cases of West Nile virus have been reported on Long Island this year.
