There’s a new effort to battle back against some of the problems deer cause for East End residents.
Officials say proposed legislation would help alleviate things like tickborne illnesses, damage to woodlands and crops, and hazards to drivers.
If passed, the bill would allow the Department of Environmental Conservation authority to establish a deer management pilot program in the Town of Southold.
Some local animal rights groups call the proposed legislation outrageous.
