Multiple departments have responded to a house fire in Long Beach.
No injuries were reported, but the house suffered extensive damage.
The fire marshal says the home's dryer started the fire.
Firefighters say the call came in just before 9 p.m. Monday. According to the Long Beach Fire Department, the fire started in the laundry room on the first floor and spread to the second floor and the attic.
A neighbor on East Walnut Street says she saw the situation unfold.
“There wasn’t that much smoke at first and then it just kind of exploded," Stacey Stein, of Long Beach.
Multiple fire departments responded to help quell the flames. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes. It was under control shortly before 10 p.m.
Officials say no one was hurt and the fire is not considered suspicious.
This was the second house fire caused by a clothes dryer in Nassau in less than 24 hours. The fire marshal told News 12 that multiple people were displaced by a fire at a home in Syosset that was also caused by a clothes dryer.
