Four businesses were damaged after a fire broke out Saturday morning at the Levittown shopping mall on Hempstead Turnpike.

The damaged businesses include a pizza shop, nail salon, restaurant and floral shop.

Halal restaurant owner Mir Sultani says his staff is now out of work just two days before Christmas.

"Unfortunately, I have to break the news to them – don’t come to work for a while," says Sultani.

Fire officials believe the fire started in the nail salon. They say the fire was contained within an hour of their arrival.

"We were able to stop it there,” says Levittown Fire Chief Mike Herold. “Some damage extended into the restaurant and those two buildings. We had 15 pieces of equipment and 150 men on scene.”

Dortoni Bakery, located next door to where the fire began, was not affected. Manager Donnie Messina says several workers were inside the bakery when the fire broke out.

"Workers smelled smoke and saw the flames. There were probably about 60 people working in the bakery at that time…A big thank you goes out to the Levittown Fire Department and Nassau County police," says Messina.

No one was hurt in the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
