A fire broke out across the street from Wyandanch High School Friday evening, officials say.

Fire officials say the flames broke out at the home on Jamaica Avenue at around 5:30 p.m.

Three separate fire departments were working to knock the fire out.

There is no word on if anyone was inside the home.

News 12 is told the fire stopped a track meet that was going on at the high school and other sporting events.
