An off-duty NYPD officer rushed to help a Long Islander trapped in a burning vehicle last month.

Officer Joseph Wetzel is battling stage three colorectal cancer, but that didn’t stop him from running to the scene of a serious crash in Hauppauge.

The accident happened at the corner of Routes 111 and 347 around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 4.

In newly-released video, one vehicle can be seen trying to make a turn when it collides with a second vehicle, flips, and bursts into flames.

Wetzel ran over, broke the window, and rescued the driver trapped inside the overturned vehicle, according to officials.

As News 12 reported, three people were injured in the crash, one of them seriously.
