The Oceanside Fire Department is prepared for Hermine and potential flooding with some heavy-duty equipment.
Fire Chief John Madden says the department's High-Water Vehicle is on standby in case firefighters need to access any flooded areas for emergencies or to help with evacuations.
He says the vehicle can drive through about seven feet of water and has a lot of room to carry people, firefighters and equipment.
The department acquired the vehicle after Superstorm Sandy and has not yet needed to deploy it.
