NYPD officer shot in line of duty released from hospital

Authorities say sergeant Carl Johnson and Christopher Leap, of Babylon, were shot while chasing the suspect Thursday on the Lower East Side.

An NYPD officer who was shot by a robbery suspect this week left Bellevue Hospital on Saturday.
Authorities say sergeant Carl Johnson and Christopher Leap, of Babylon, were shot while chasing the suspect Thursday on the Lower East Side.
Johnson was discharged from the hospital in a wheelchair. Both he and Leap are expected to recover.
Authorities say 22-year-old Joshua Dorsett was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
