The New York Islanders are trying to help make life a little easier for military moms-to-be.
The team hosted a baby shower at UBS Arena on Wednesday.
The hockey-themed celebration was held for 25 new and expecting mothers whose spouses or partners are currently deployed.
In partnership with the nonprofit Operation Shower, the Islanders Children’s Foundation provided a catered lunch, raffle prizes and gifts for the women and their babies.
"The prizes we received were amazing, strollers, bassinets, baby washers, sterilizers, onesies rattles anything we need,” one recipient said.
This is the sixth straight year the Islanders have held this event.
