An NYPD officer from Flanders is being honored for his heroic actions.
Officer Peter Cybulski was awarded the Distinguished Medal of Service Wednesday by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
As News 12 has previously reported, Cybulski and his partner were on patrol in Times Square in July when a man threw a device into their squad car that they though may have been a bomb.
Instead of jumping out of harm's way, the men drove the vehicle to a less-crowded area. The device was discovered not to be a bomb.
