The NYPD detective attacked by a man with a meat cleaver in Manhattan yesterday is now recovering at his Northport home.
Brian O'Donnell was released from Bellevue Hospital this afternoon.

The attack happened in midtown near Penn Station just before 5 p.m. Thursday. Police say two officers approached Akram Joudeh as he tried remove a boot from the car he was apparently living in. They say he pulled out an 11-inch meat cleaver and started running.
That's when O'Donnell, who was off duty, tried to tackle the homeless man. O'Donnell suffered a 6-inch gash on his face.
Joudeh was shot multiple times by other officers and is in critical condition.
