NYPD: 17-year-old faces murder charge in New Jersey Avenue fatal shooting

A 17-year-old was arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Zanir Childs, the NYPD says.

A 17-year-old was arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Zanir Childs, the NYPD says.

It happened on May 17. Childs and an 18-year-old teen girl were shot on New Jersey Avenue in East New York.

He was hit in the torso and later died at a nearby hospital.

Police say the 17-year-old, who was not named, faces criminal possession of a weapon and murder charges.
