There was more than just rain falling from the sky in Manhattan today, as the annual New Year's Eve confetti test took place in Times Square.
Officials dropped the shreds of paper to make sure it flies and falls just right. One ton of confetti will be released come Tuesday night.
Supreme Court Justice and Bronx native Sonia Sotomayor will be the one who pushes the button to initiate the ball drop.
For those headed into Manhattan, there will be extended LIRR service. Alcohol will be banned on all trains, stations and platforms from Tuesday to noon on Wednesday.
