A plan to bring Metro-North stations to the East Bronx is underway.

The Department of City Planning has proposed the Bronx Metro-North, a commuter train with stops in Co-Op City, Morris Park, Parkchester/Van Nest and Hunts Point. The city is looking to make the East Bronx more accessible with the completion of this project in 2027.

The department says the new train service would reduce commute times, create more access to jobs and give residents more ways to get around.

The proposal has not yet been approved and is currently being reviewed by other city agencies.
