Nassau County police say they arrested a juvenile after a gun was recovered at a Nassau County high school.
Police responded to reports of a weapon seen at Shubert School on 835 Dermott Ave. in Baldwin at around 12 p.m. on Tuesday.
Officials say there was no threat to the Baldwin School District or community.
Police did not say if the gun was loaded at the time of the recovery or the identity of the person in custody.
Baldwin schools released the following statement:
“The Baldwin Union Free School District remains fully committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for every student in our care. Yesterday, Baldwin Union Free School District responded to an incident at Shubert School. Upon learning of the situation, we immediately activated our safety protocols and contacted local law enforcement, who responded swiftly and professionally. The situation has been fully resolved, and all necessary actions have been taken in accordance with the district’s code of conduct.”
