Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas is the newest judge on the state Court of Appeals.
Singas was approved Tuesday afternoon by the full state Senate.
Earlier she testified before the Senate judiciary committee, which also approved her nomination.
Singas' confirmation fills one of two vacancies on the court.
Sen. Todd Kaminsky issued a statement saying, "As my first supervisor, Judge Singas taught me how to be a prosecutor and fight for justice every day. For the past five years, she has served as our district attorney with integrity and fortitude, making Nassau the safest county in America. It was my honor to vote to confirm her, and I am confident she will make our state proud."
There is no word on when she will be sworn in.
