305ds agoNorthwell Health had cancer survivors come together to celebrate their triumphs on Saturday.
More than 1,000 survivors, their loved ones and medical staff shared their stories at Northwell Health's annual Cancer Survivor's Day celebration.
Former News 12 Long Island anchor Carol Silva, who shared how positivity helped her beat lung and brain cancer, was a guest speaker for the event.
"I am 100% healthy,” she said. “And it's official because my latest brain MRI was a week and a half ago and the doctor said I hit it out of the ballpark."
Cancer survivor Day is Sunday, and it’s recognized on the first Sunday in June each year.
