Northport High School students staged a peaceful walkout this morning, joining a growing wave of student demonstrations across Long Island protesting immigration enforcement actions by ICE.
Dozens of students left their classrooms during fourth period and gathered near the school’s sign, many wearing blue as a unified show of support. Some other Northport students joined together in a counter‑protest, though both groups remained orderly throughout the event.
This marks at least the second ICE‑related demonstration by students this week. Students at North Shore High School in Glen Head also held a protest
earlier in the week, similarly, calling attention to immigration enforcement practices.
