The town of North Hempstead is rolling out the red carpet for so-called poison ivy predators.
Goats are being used as part of a pilot program to help remove the invasive species from town property in a natural way.
"And so we're doing it in a way that doesn't require any pesticides or any chemicals to take care of this issue and so we're very excited and can't wait to meet our new partners," says North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth.
Green Goats, the organization providing the goats, says the animals will eat about 25 pounds of foliage a day.
