The season's first nor'easter is expected to hit the Island Thursday morning.

Many residents are raising concerns about high winds bringing down tree limbs and power lines. Lindenhurst resident Kevin McGann says his house is already surrounded by floodwater.

McGann says he had his house raised after Superstorm Sandy, and he moves his car to higher ground during storms. As for Thursday's nor'easter, McGann says he's hoping for the best, but bracing for the worst.

"I'm going to be at work, but I told everybody who lives here to keep your eye out. You may have to leave for a little while. Other than that, there's not much we can do, it's mother nature," says McGann.

PSEGLI says its crews have been preparing for months to deal with storms like the one that's expected to hit Thursday.

"Our people have been out there every other day of the year working on the system, and that work that they've done will make us better for it," says John O'Connell, of PSEGLI.

He adds, "We expect some minor outages scattered throughout over the next couple of days and we expect our employees will be there to put them back very promptly."
