An NYPD officer shot in a Queens subway station returned home Friday after being hospitalized for more than a week.
Officer Shane Farina was shot in the line of duty on Oct. 21. Farina was hit in the sternum, leaving him in critical but stable condition.
"I'm just happy to be home," says Farina.
Farina's partner, Officer Jason Maass, was also shot in the incident.
The pair was fired at while attempting to arrest Raul Nunez for allegedly trying to beat a subway fare. Nunez allegedly grabbed one of the officers' guns and shot.
The officer's wife and children are ecstatic to have him home.
"It's one of the best days of my life," says wife Kerry Farina. "I'm really happy to have him home, get together with the kids and get back to being a family."
Nunez has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.
