The head of the New Jersey State Police said law enforcement around the state will be prepared for potential demonstrations following a verdict in the trial of ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
State Police Col. Pat Callahan also commented on the death of Daunte Wright, who was shot and killed in Minnesota back on April 11.
The officer claims she mistook her handgun for her Taser.
"I have watched the Duante Wright video. It was tragic. I don't know if it was a training issue, but when that resulted in the loss of his life, just hard to watch and certainly a tragedy," Callahan said.
Callahan says the State Police will work to keep all gatherings peaceful.
There were dozens of peaceful protests in New Jersey last year in the wake of Floyd's death, but there was also looting in Atlantic City and a riot in Trenton.
