A Selden mother is accused of drunken driving with her 2-year-old daughter in the car in a crash that injured a pedestrian and his young son.
Police say Nina Gebarowski struck Manuel Ortega and his 4-year-old son Manny on Marshall Drive in Selden just after 3 p.m. yesterday. Prosecutors say Gebarowski admitted to police that she had been drinking, but her attorney claims she had only had one beer and was not drunk.
Manuel Ortega took the brunt of the crash and dislocated his shoulder. Manny Ortega wasn't hit, but fell and bruised his arm.
Gebarowski was arraigned today and is charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law, as well as endangering the welfare of a child.
Attorney Craig McElwee says Gebarowski voluntarily submitted to a blood test. The results of that blood test haven't come back yet.
Gebarowski's license has been suspended. She's due back in court Jan. 15.
