The Nassau Inter-County Express bus company says it is planning to eliminate routes and raise fares for some customers starting next year.
NICE is projecting a $7.5 million shortfall in its 2016 budget. Officials now say they are looking into cutting some routes that they consider inefficient.
Officials also propose raising the fare for cash-paying riders by 25 cents, making each trip $2.75. That increased number would match MTA fares.
Earlier this week, News 12 reported that the company which runs NICE is making money, or compensation, each year. The company netted $3.4 million last year.
NICE must hold public hearings on the proposed changes before it can enact them.
