Construction is being halted in part of Southampton this morning after skeletal remains, that may belong to a Native American, were found earlier this week.
The bones were found at a construction site on Hawthorne Road.
Newsday says the coordinator for the State Parks Department's Archaeology Unit urged construction to be halted. That's in case there are more graves on the property.

The  state has also called on the Town of Southampton to consult with members of the Shinnecock Indian Nation.
