The sale of Plum Island is reportedly being put on hold. 

Newsday says the sale was temporarily halted when President Donald Trump signed a new spending bill last week. 

It essentially stops the federal government from spending money on anything related to the sale of the 840-acre island off the North Fork. 

Plum Island houses an animal research facility, but federal authorities are trying to move the lab to Kansas.

Environmentalists are trying to prevent development on the island.
