School officials say there is a shortage of substitute teachers across Long Island.
School administrators are now partnering with colleges to find recent graduates, according to Newsday. They're holding job fairs and increasing pay.
School officials and the state teachers union say fewer people are getting teaching degrees.
A total of 47 percent fewer people are getting teaching degrees, down 47 percent in six years.
