The New York Islanders are considering leaving the Barclays Center to build an arena at Belmont Park, according to a Newsday report.
Newsday says team owners have met several times recently with NYRA officials to discuss a new arena.
The Islanders had no comment.
Newsday reporter Jim Baumbach says the Islanders have an opt-out clause in their deal with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn that would allow them to leave in three years.
Baumbach told News 12 that the chances of the Islanders coming back to the Nassau Coliseum after it is revamped are "miniscule."
