News 12 Long Island has learned that more than two dozen properties damaged during Sandy will become affordable housing sites. 
The Long Island Housing Partnership is taking over 30 homes across Nassau and Suffolk counties. 
The houses will be demolished and then rebuilt, according to Newsday.
Those applying for the new affordable housing will face income and mortgage requirements
