The New York state Senate has passed legislation that would require EpiPens in places like stadiums, areas, concert halls and anywhere else that has a capacity of at least 1,000 people.
At least one employee or volunteer at the site must also be trained to use the EpiPens.
Northwell Health allergist Dr. David Rosenthal says both are pivotal in a situation where every second counts.
"Sometimes it can take five, 10, 15 minutes for paramedics or EMS to get to the scene," Rosenthal says. "By having the tools and the resources right on site, you can truly save someone's life."
The bill still needs Gov. Kathy Hochul's signation in order to become a law.
