New York State Police say the drivers of two cars died in a wrong-way crash on the northbound side of the Meadowbrook State Parkway north of Bay Parkway in Wantagh.

Police say one of the cars was driving the wrong way when it slammed into the other car head-on at approximately 11:35 p.m. Wednesday.

The wrong-way driver was identified as 64-year-old Timothy Reid, of Huntington. The driver of the other vehicle was 28-year-old Byron Cifuentes, of Hempstead.

The northbound lanes of the parkway were closed in the area for several hours. They were reopened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
