A volunteer organization is rebuilding the homes of first responders from Long Island.

Volunteers from across the country were in Long Beach today rebuilding the home of NYPD Officer Charlie Sadler and his wife Gina. Their house was destroyed during Sandy.

The group, New York Says Thank You, was created in 2003 as a way to thank the volunteers who came to New York after the Sept. 11 attacks. Every year during the week of Sept. 11, volunteers take out their tool belts and travel where they're needed.

New York Says Thank You hopes to rebuild 200 homes in the area that have been damaged by Sandy.
