New York doubles number of marijuana licenses to be issued due to high demand

Long Island will now be getting twice as many legal cannabis dispensaries than originally planned.
New York is doubling the amount of marijuana licenses to be issued.
Due to high demand, the state Office of Cannabis Management, will allow 300 applicants with family histories of marijuana convictions to open up shop.
The state says it has received around 900 applications.
Long Island will now be allocated 40 licenses.
