Town of Islip officials cut the ribbon for a $1.25 million skate park at Roberto Clemente Park in Brentwood.
The skate park is the only one in the town and the latest addition to Robert Clemente after receiving $13 million in improvements in recent years.
“I think it’s a pretty cool park, you know,” says Alicia Baggiera, of Bay Shore. “A lot of like low packed beginners stuff is very inviting and easy and inclusive for people who are getting into skateboarding.”
Nearly 10 years ago, the park was a dumping site for roughly 40,000 tons of waste.
