New push to make declawing cats in NY a crime
There is a new push to make the declawing of cats in New York a crime.
People gathered in Albany yesterday to insist the procedure is cruel and hurts the animals. They also believe declawing should only be allowed if it is medically necessary.
However, the state's Veterinary Medical Society says declawing should be a final option for cats who will not stop scratching.
The proposal is the first declawing ban in the country.
