News 12 Long Island's Jamie Stuart takes a look at the Knicks' chances as the 2013-2014 season kicks off at Madison Square Garden.

The team added Metta World Peace and Andrea Bargnani - two acquisitions that helped counter the Nets' trade for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry - during an active offseason.

Carmelo Anthony, last season's scoring leader, is also searching for his first-ever championship, a feat he says he'd love to accomplish before exploring free agency.

"I'd like to think that we're one of the teams that's going to be in the hunt," says coach Mike Woodson.

New York finished in first place last season, leading the Atlantic Division with a 54-28 record. They were ousted by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
