Some new laws are in effect in New York to start off 2020.
Breanna’s Law, which is aimed at improving boating safety, requires people to take a state approved safety course before they’re allowed to operate a motorized boat.
The law is named after 11-year-old Breanna Lieneck. She was killed in a boating accident on the Great South Bay in 2005.
In addition, a new Nassau County law bans the sale of most flavored e-cigarette products.
On Wednesday, the manager at Smoke Stax in Hicksville cleared his shelves of the sweet and fruity flavors that some say entice adolescents to vape.
Plus, thousands of Long Islanders are making more money.
