Nearly 10 years after talks of a new golf course began, Bronx residents can finally look forward to a definite date for the unveiling.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course should be open by 2010, city officials say. The city is currently negotiating with a company on the design and construction of the course, which will be located inside Ferry Point Park.
Promises of a new course began in 1999. Earlier this year, the city took ownership of the desired land and the project. Now, they are trying to move quickly to turn the former landfill into a desirable recreational area.
There will be a public hearing about the future of the Ferry Point course next Thursday, June 26, at 10 a.m. in Manhattan. Residents are encouraged to attend and express their feelings about the city?s plan.
