The New Cassel mother charged with drowning her three children in a bathtub pleaded not guilty in court Thursday.

It was Latrice Brewer?s first court appearance since she was arrested Feb. 24 for the murders of her children, ages 6, 5 and 18 months. Police say Brewer killed the three children and then called police. She was incarcerated in the hospital wing of Nassau University Medical Center after jumping off the roof of her home.

Nassau County Child Protective Services investigated several cases of alleged child abuse against Brewer in the past. Some relatives have said after numerous complaints, the county did little to help the children.

Brewer's attorney Michelle Armstrong still won?t comment on the case or say if she is seeking an insanity plea. Brewer will be back in court March 27.
