The New Cassel mother accused of murdering her three young children was indicted on six murder charges Friday.

Leatrice Brewer, 27, is accused of drowning the children two weeks ago. Police say after she killed them, Brewer laid the children on her bed in their pajamas. Jewell, 6, Michael, 5 and 18-month-old Innocent were buried March 1.

Brewer is facing first-degree and second-degree murder charges for each child. Michelle Armstrong, Brewer?s attorney, won?t say if she plans on using an insanity defense. Brewer jumped off the roof of her home after committing the murders, police say.

Brewer did not appear in court Friday as she remains hospitalized since the murders. Attorneys won?t comment on her mental state. She is due back in court March 13.

The father of oldest child Jewell is suing Nassau County and Child Protective Services for failing to protect his daughter.
