Residents in a Bay Shore community reported hearing a barrage of gunfire overnight.
Neighbors say they heard as many as 16 shots ring out around 4 a.m. in a residential area near Emkay Street and 21st Avenue, close to Brentwood Road.
Detectives were seen going door to door Saturday morning to interview residents about what they heard. Some homeowners have security cameras, and investigators were also reviewing that footage for more information.
Police say no one was reported injured as a result of the shots.
Residents tell News 12 that it's unsettling because their community is normally very quiet.
According to officials, shots were also fired in Brentwood around 3 a.m., but it's unclear if the incidents were related.
