Residents of East Quogue are demanding a nightclub in their town be shut down because they say it?s become overrun with drug activity.
Police say they arrested 19 people at Neptune Beach Club for drug sales and possession over the weekend. Among them were three bouncers who allegedly tried to sell drugs they had confiscated from nightclub patrons to undercover cops.
"If you don't shut this place down someone is going to get killed,? says resident Robin Eshaghpour, who snapped photographs of a man being taken away in an ambulance last weekend after cops say he overdosed.
Sgt. James Kiernan, of the Southampton Police Department, agrees there is a major drug problem at the club.
"If you can imagine this, security personnel taking narcotics, heavy, heavy drugs, off of people they search before they go in, taking these narcotics and selling them to other patrons of the club,? Kiernan says. ?You?re talking cocaine, Ecstasy, Ketamine, an animal tranquilizer??
News 12 Long Island tried to contact the club owners but was told they were unavailable.
Southampton police say they also arrested three bartenders at other area nightclubs for allegedly selling alcohol to minors.
