Hours after the rollout of the new Tesla 3 models last night, the company says it received almost 150,000 advance orders.
The Model 3 is Tesla's fourth all-electric car and it's most affordable, starting at $35,000 minus federal tax incentives.
AAA's Robert Sinclair says the enormous number of deposits for the car is unprecedented.
The car can drive 215 miles on a single charge. It seats five adults and goes 0 to 60 in less than 6 seconds.
Delivery isn't expected until late 2017, and possibly 2018 on the East Coast.
