National Park Service considers doubling fees
The National Park Service is considering more than doubling the price at 17 of its most popular places, including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park.
The weekly fee per vehicle could go from $30 to $70.
The Park Service says the extra money is needed for maintenance and infrastructure projects.
Fire Island National Seashore and Sagamore Hill – President Theodore Roosevelt's Oyster Bay home – are not on the list.
Officials say 282 million people walked through national parks last year.
