National Grid volunteers wash cars to raise money for Safe Center LI
Nearly 50 National Grid volunteers washed cars in Brentwood Tuesday to raise money for Safe Center LI, an organization that provides free services to victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence.
Each vehicle cost $10 to wash. All proceeds went toward supporting the organization.
"It’s to help the families and individuals in need, as well as expanding their programs, getting their support staff, whatever they need to help them continue their mission,” said National Grid operations vice president Aaron Choo.
News 12 was told that the Safe Center has also been able to hire additional staff thanks to a workforce development grant.
